Coffee

We don't offer a dark roast, and here's the reasoning behind our decision: Our guiding principle is to empower coffee beans to be the best version of themselves. Our unique roasting philosophy focuses on reaching the point where the beans' aroma peaks—a critical moment in the roasting process. This approach allows us to showcase and accentuate the inherent notes of each coffee variety.

Contrary to our philosophy, dark roasting tends to overshadow these subtle flavor notes with a smoky and charred profile. Moreover, the darker the roast, the more pronounced the bitterness becomes, a characteristic we actively avoid. We dedicate considerable effort to meticulously selecting and roasting the coffee we offer, maintaining high standards for grade and Q score, and investing more for quality coffee.

Just as you wouldn't char a prime-grade filet mignon, we apply the same principle to our high-quality specialty coffee. We established these principles from the outset, fully aware that some individuals exclusively prefer dark roast coffee and may not choose our offerings. We accept this, staying true to our convictions.

With that said, we encourage you to give us a chance. Your taste buds might be momentarily taken aback by the burst of flavor, but with time and an open mind, you'll likely find yourself enjoying the distinctive experience.

We've opted not to offer K-Cups, and here's our rationale:

Our primary commitment is to deliver the highest quality and most flavorful coffee, guided by our motto, 'Empowering coffee beans to be the best version of themselves.' Our specialty coffees undergo a careful selection process and meticulous roasting, emphasizing the inherent notes of each coffee variety. Unfortunately, the convenience of K-Cups may not fully convey the artistry and expertise invested in our coffee production, potentially missing the opportunity to showcase the unique characteristics of our coffees.

However, for those who appreciate the convenience of K-Cups, some of our customers opt for our coffee using reusable K-cup pods. If you prefer this convenience, we suggest using the reusable pods and selecting the drip grind option to ensure you experience our coffee as intended.

To label coffee as "organic," it must meet specific certification requirements, which involve rigorous standards, inspections, and a cost. Each step of the process from the producer to the roastery needs to be certified organic in order for the label to be on the bag. Our roastery would have to be inspected regularly if we wanted to put the "Organic" label on our coffee. We made the decision not to deal with the rigmarole of getting certified organic.  With that said, if we do offer an organic coffee, we will describe it as "earth-friendly” in the product description.
